Boyne River (EPC1038 & EPC1121)
The Boyne River Project and tenements cover approximately 656.5km2 and are located less than 50km south from the port of Gladstone. The recently upgraded north-south Monto railway line runs through the tenement to the west of the coal deposit.
The project is located in the Nagoorin Basin south south-west of Gladstone. The Nagoorin Basin is a depo-centre for thick accumulations of sedimentation which contain the Boyne River Coal Measures. Drilling in the area has intersected numerous thick coal events at depths from subcrop to +1000m. Records illustrate seams up to 132m thick. The coal measures are thought to be an extension of the Jurassic Formations found just south in Monto and the Surat Basin.
Coal core has been sampled from recent exploration programs and tested and analyses for coal quality properties. Proximate analysies record an air dried specific energy of over 5800 kcal (24.3MJ/kg) with a corresponding ash 6.9%, moistures 6.9-9.5% and volatiles 32.4%.
